she …
took his heart in hands ...
crimping the passionate edges with
dainty, fuchsia-tipped digits
and tore it cleanly - deliberately - in two
with no more care than if it was
the deed to a tar pit
and no greater ceremony than
yesterday's obits ...
he watched the remnants fall
(like bloodied angel wings
torn from Lucifer by God Himself)
drifting ... lilting, to stillness
and when they lay at his careworn feet
he took a last chill breath in
spat upon the faithful, thrumming pieces
and walked quietly away ...
with no more care
for them …
than she.
