Hiroshima

a motionless pond reflects an unblemished sky where war once swallowed the sun - blossoms drift like tears skimming over ancient wounds while doves fly against the wind

This is beautiful. I understand the imagery of every line because I have read a lot about the bombing. Deeply beautiful, A 7

Near perfection in the way it captures the deep beauty of life even when it's surrounded by one of history's myriad horrors. ( And Carrie-- I've visited Hiroshima and saw the pond I'm guessing you are referencing within the park built over the site of ground zero.)

carrie, this is fantastic. the only thing that kept me from putting it higher was that I looked up the form and it seemed your syllables did not all line up exactly as the form states. Unless I just did not understand it correctly. Anyway, marvelous poem about that horrible event. Congrats in my contest.
