Heartache, a Plea To a Lover

Heartache, A Plea To A Lover When our love departed misery roared into life I fell broken-hearted my cup full of strife Days grew colder still sorrow sat many thrones Heart felt a epic chill Your words broke my bones The night's glow cease a kiss no longer sublime Do not our love release give us some more time I kneel at your feet cut off at the knees First night lets repeat unlock our loving keys End my silent grieving pains that torture me No more dark deceiving in love again believe Waste not remaining years missing skies so blue Let happiness be our tears united forever we two Lets live and die together, a loving pair never again tasting this great despair! RJL, 7-21-1975 Note: So long ago. Destiny had other plans, sad but true. The love of my life could not overcome her drug addiction. And I simply could not abide what it did to us... A past that still haunts ... with the usual what ifs...

Robert, I couldn't find your Gallows poem, but I did find this—an emotionally powerful, beautifully crafted account of lost love. I was riveted to virtually every line. Thank you for sharing it, and for providing helpful background information.

Having undergone such stormy relationship can have a positive effect on a current one. Makes you appreciate more the second, or another chance life has given you. I love your gut-wrenching style at writing. A 7. PS. Just saw today your bio, saying your beloved is a young Filipina. I was correct! Warm regards to her and hugs to you both! :D Kim

Very heartbreaking pen Robert, I have experienced very up close with a relative how drugs can destroy people's lives and bring much suffering. My relative sadly is gone many years ago because of his addiction to certain drugs.Your piece brought back to me painful memories. So sorry for you and your ex girlfriend. I can't blame you wonder about the what ifs.So sad you couldn't stay together. Your story is sweet romantic and so sad.! I hope she survived the drugs in the end..Have a lovely day! In his light! God bless you! D.

G'day Robert... Sad but brutally true Robert about what any addiction can destroy. The lines you wrote have certainly shown the despair that all went through. Thanks again Robert - Lindsay
