Howling, shrieking winds thirty foot tsunami swallowing the land... Hurricane Camille Biloxi/Gulfport/Bay St. Louis, MS August 17-18, 1969 Deaths: 259 Tidal Surge: 28 ft. Est. Wind speed: 225+MPH (The wind instruments were destroyed at 200 mph) Imagine an F-5 tornado reaching across most of the Mississippi Gulf Coast...Add a 28 ft. tidal wave to that and you can imagine the destructive force of Camille. wow, this is even better seeing it the second time. A really well deserved win. By the way, Tim. Did I ever tell you how much I loved your Cotton pickin' poem shown for Deb's Referential contest? I had wanted to do a pantoum based on it but then I realized the contest was for free verse only. But at last I used it in my recent post for the terza rima contest. I thought your description of cotton fields was so utterly beautiful.

My husband's brother was witness to the aftermath of Camille......the pictures and his stories were unforgettable........I can't imagine it, being a California girl, what such an experience would be like....such terror...
