Camille

Howling, shrieking winds thirty foot tsunami swallowing the land... Hurricane Camille Biloxi/Gulfport/Bay St. Louis, MS August 17-18, 1969 Deaths: 259 Tidal Surge: 28 ft. Est. Wind speed: 225+MPH (The wind instruments were destroyed at 200 mph) Imagine an F-5 tornado reaching across most of the Mississippi Gulf Coast...Add a 28 ft. tidal wave to that and you can imagine the destructive force of Camille. Those who witnessed the aftermath of this storm said it looked like an atomic bomb had been dropped Recommended reading: Accounts of the hurricane party at Richelieu Apartments in Pass Christian, MS

Thats pretty deep man. I live in Calif and can only imagine the pain my family and friends would suffer, if that happened here. Good write, congrats to you.

wow, this is even better seeing it the second time. A really well deserved win. By the way, Tim. Did I ever tell you how much I loved your Cotton pickin' poem shown for Deb's Referential contest? I had wanted to do a pantoum based on it but then I realized the contest was for free verse only. But at last I used it in my recent post for the terza rima contest. I thought your description of cotton fields was so utterly beautiful.
