The Real Jewel
Our man-made pool, resplendent by the kiss
Of sunrays catching ripples in the light,
Holds but a minute portion of the bliss
Of nature's sea with all its power and might.
No ocean's roar or pounding waves are here;
No breathing with the rise and fall of tide.
However, now, this pool so cool and clear
Is all we have to keep us satisfied.
Earth life is like the pool—a pseudo sea
That shimmers in a tiny shallow shell,
While boundless waters of Eternity
Contain their treasures in a deeper well.
We splash within the sparkle of the pool
Yet know it isn't quite the real jewel.
