Skeins of Geese

I think that I shall never see, A more magnificent scene to me, Than skeins of geese in pure flight! 'Tis truly an awe-inspiring sight! 'Tis a wonder of God's Creation, That they fly in perfect V formation! As they glide thro' autumn's lowering skies, I harken to hear their haunting cries! I stand in awe as they pass in review, Blessing my soul as all too soon they fade from view. 3 October 2022

Great rhyme and for the sighting. Well Done. Have geese fly over every morning. Often wonder were they spend the day. No dropping yet.

when i started reading your poem, i expected it to be a humorous poem about what geese often leave behind but i was delighted to read this one instead. it truly is "awe-inspiring" watching them in formation and you've painted a very vivid picture here, bob! great one!

Aha! Fooled you this time - thought about weaving "droppings" in there somewhere but I have to come up with a serious one now and then to keep credibility! Hundreds of geese fly low over our house every day (so far we haven't been bombarded with poop) and I find them fascinating. Have a grand week - bob h

G'day Robert... Thanks for your insight on wild geese. Down south in Aus we're lucky to see a Cape Barren Goose ever... they rarely touch the mainland. You've explained what must be a pleasing sight. Thank you. Lindsay

A bit different than your usual style and I love it. Just shows how talented you are. I was just out at the park watching the geese and wading through their droppings. Boy they were noisy..Having a good weekend? BG

Thank you, Jan, for your kind comments. Hundreds of geese fly directly over our house every day. They have always fascinated me and always will. From whence they come and whither they go, I shall never know! Have a wonderful weekend - bob h
