Fragrant Flashbacks, For Contest
For no reason I suddenly burst into song
an old tune from my childhood, while walking along
Took me back forty years – I was forming a band
and those awful school dinners that we couldn’t stand
Funny how all the words in a moment come back
when a scent from your schooldays revives an old track
The old melodies merge with nostalgic recall
of the teacher who didn’t encourage at all
Then would you believe it, she strode into view
my old music teacher from ‘72
