Fall From Grace

I watched angels fall from grace today I wondered how could this be I looked to the heavens to ask How could this have happened How could angels fall so fast I stood there I watched angels falling I wondered how could this be For aren't angels a part of thee He looked down at me and said "Yes my dear" indeed they are But you see I gave them free will When I set them free Until they come back to me I felt a tear roll down my cheek As I stood in silence and watched Then I laughed and I thought HE should have chosen me Then he would have seen That I would never be An angel who fell from grace I watched angels fall from grace today I ask myself how could this be Why would the powers that be Ever let such a thing happen Then I looked up and I saw me I was the one falling from grace I remembered He once told me You will have free will " till " you come back to me So I'll let you be I watched an angel fall from grace today But then I realized that it was me As I looked into that mirror I saw her staring back at me. 9,13,2010 4pm Monday Since I was little I've thought about angels falling, must be the catholic church.

What a brilliant first post Debbie... It is such a shame you do not post so much.. An excellent self reflective poem.. Written 7 years ago, how we change as poets.. our writing, our personalities... and do you ever think about all those people you interacted with in these years gone by... some still here, some long gone and many still in your heart..

Hi Debbie, this is such a wonderful first entry into poetry on the soup. I always like to read peoples early work for you can always find special gems you mat miss otherwise. I may have missed this gem. Your words painting the pictures in my mind, your words stirring my emotions. I think i still have a way to go before i reach this level of poetry and this was your first. Once again Debbie, i have to say this is a definite seven and a fave. Hugs....Mike. XX

A very powerful debut poem, Debbie. I went back to the beginning to see your first work. It didn't disappoint. An exquisitely thought provoking poem. Marvelous introspection. A 7!

Very interesting. It could have been, as you say, religious influence. However, regardless of that, you show we end up in ways never imagined. Yet there we are. Then, what do we do?

This Debbie my friend is one beautiful piece of poetry, I just loved it and as for angels I dream about them, in fact when I was little I was an angel on stage, I think I was about 9 or 10 and I remember it so well, I may be 72 but I don't forget events like that, take care my friend............Vera

This is absolutely brilliant. I read it outloud to my brother and he said "THAT IS AMAZING". I have often thought these things! Oh how easy it is to fall from grace - but we can pick ourselves up thanks to someone's sacrifice. I am so glad I decided to read this one from you. I am favoriting it! Always, Laura

Fallen Angels, how sweet the sound. However, the image is sad, somehow I feel the loss of prestige through the image above. I'm glad the vision was only a reminder to stay on the right side of God. Debbie, I know this is your first poem on the soup and somehow I love it so much. I think i was meant to read this poem today, thank you for leading me to this poem. I like the self perception I found when reading the poem. I think I'm also that girl looking into the mirror. making this poem a favorite among my favorite poems... always~ LINDA

Beautifully written...we all seem to have been that angel at one time or another in our lives. You, however, have reminded us that is is Our free will that makes us take that tumble. I hope to read more of your works. Dan C
