One of two poems Eranthis-Free Verse and Eranthis-Etheree written at the same time about the same subject but in different form.

Beautiful little buttercup glistening in the morning sun. Fragile are you, so small, so delicate. So eager to greet the new spring and break free from your wintry prison, your glorious yellow cheeks always smiling at the world. The gentle breeze plays melodies, peeking through the shadows. Dancing among the fallen leaves, your flamboyant show belies your quiet nature. Too soon your beauty will fade but tenderness will remain. Once more your leaves will curl and sleep will come with troubled dreams as your leaves unfold and your petals drop. The changing seasons take their toll. Often feeling tread upon, life seems so heavy. 07/26/15

Debbie, thank you so much for the visit. I have recently read your poem Maudlin Mary, among others, and I am in awe. My poems seem so simple but I'm glad you enjoyed this one. rjijr
