Both of our baby girls wear a black mask. They try listen to do what my wife asks. These gentle giants far out, weigh my wife. The two girls are a large part of her life. Shelby is the watcher by my wife’s side. She has been with us since she first cried. Molly is always there looking up for attention. She is quick to defend without any mention. For me, these girls are a blessing, I adore. They slobber, pass gas, and they even snore. Both these girls get me off the ol' hook. We love them for they give more than a look. Without trying a dog will fill your heart. A friend and bond until death do you part. Edward J. Ebbs - November 23, 2014 Written for a Contest, Pets

I love mastiffs, Ed! My brother's girlfriend had a French mastiff. He lived with me for some time and I grew quite attached to him. He was so much work but so worth it...just a beautiful, gentle, intelligent creature. After ten years, I miss him still. If I can dig up a picture of him, I'll share it. A wonderful poem! Thanks for sharing and for stopping by my pages.

We are all doing better. I am a person of faith, more inwardly than outwardly, but my faith is tall as the highest mountain...I draw my strength from there. Poetry helps me keep grounded too. Thank You :)

Excellent poem Ed. I'm so glad I had the chance to meet Shelby and Molly. Congratulations on your win. It's funny how much we love them, despite the gas.

Thank you Shadow, I truly struggled on this Sonnet...I could not make it flow. My wife is not feeling well, dad had a stroke, Paula's mother is starting down the path of dementia, Molly the dog is getting old, mom died just over a year ago, and...Poetry helps me with balance. The sonnet stretched me because it does not comes naturally to me...lol, it's the rules thing :) So this is not dumping on you of course, but since it's the thanksgiving season, I am thankful for you and others that take time to sponsor events like this for someone like me.
