Eap-Good Cook

My mother was the very best cook In the beginning though she was not And the very first pie she cooked got In the house hidden out of sight in a pot By the night thrown through floor pine knot Inspired by Brian Strands but not an entry. I just wanted to see if I could write one. (Mother said the first egg custard she made was all runny and she didn't want my father to know that she messed up so she hid it for a while then poured it through the pine knot in the floor. They were very poor living on a farm in a house without double flooring like today and no rugs.)

It takes time to learn how to cook and I really enjoyed this poem, Sara. Reminded me of hearing how my mother mistook soap flakes for potato flakes in the first meal she made for my father. Brian did inspire us with this challenge, didn't he? Nice work! Love, Carolyn

Ah Sara, you should enter this, I found it very touching and heartwarming. Maybe you already entered another one? I love the story of your grandmother and her first pie and her hiding it in the floor. Oh this sounds like something we might all do, LOL! Wonderful, keep writing sweet! Love Light Patty

When I was a kid I like to eat, so as a result, I would watch my mother cook. I found that by this experiance I can just about cook anything the same way she cooked it.Smile. She was a very good cook, as we were also poor, she learned to make something good out of just about anything. I am pretty good in the kitchen. Sincerely, Love, Moses

Great entry for the contest Sara.. my Mom used to make egg custard once a week.. it was sooooo yummy... thankxxx for your comment on my new entry for Deb's contest.. I do and always have believed all our words come from God but every time I enter something about God in some of the sponored contests they tend to get brushed aside .. so I just generalized it..was I wrong?... I do give HIM all the glory for my talent and gift of writing.. some others don't believe as we do... thats a shame.. luv..
