Does It Still Play

Does our love song still play long in your head, do the words start to change after all this time? Have you grown weary of tasting the same wine, does boredom make you lay down in a different bed? Do the words start to change after all this time? could it be that the melody no longer soothes your soul, sleepless nights can make your thoughts lose control Did you feel any remorse when you stepped out of line? Could it be that the melody no longer soothes your soul, can you remember the harmony it once brought to your life? Empty affairs carry a steep and painful emotional price, can your voice sing our song with no need to be consoled? Can you remember the harmony it once brought to your life? The irony is that you found peace in a very meaningful way, return to former days of first love, and let our love song replay Why are you now not willing to make the necessary sacrifice? Does the mirror make you lay down in a different bed? Insecure rhythms turn many golden memories gray: As we age, and our youth and beauty fade, fades away, does our love song still play long in your head?

The form - is it your own? I'm not sure, but it serves your stanzas so well and the content is an emotional telling told quite well. I'm impressed and really enjoyed it. Third stanza, 2nd line might have a typo - should 'carries' be 'carry?' I enjoyed your talent in this poem very, very much. It is touching ... CayCay

Ty, Cay Cay for catching that error. I was trained as an editor, but hey, everyone needs an extra set of eyes to catch our blind spot. Nah, Cay Cay, I was just experimenting w/Enclosed Rhyme hybrid. Using the terzanelle/pantoum style, I tried to figure out a way to integrate the last stanza. Still need to be tweaked. Love your support. Love and peace.

That is an interesting interpretation, Chris. I hadn't thought of that possibility. Good observation. Ty for your continued support. Love always.

Hi Freddie, man - a deep poem. "Return to former day of first love, and let our love song replay" - who has not had such thoughts? Perhaps only the exceedingly young?
