Deep Thoughts

As I sit on this dreary rainy day
My thoughts go into the darkness
Inside a valley where no man knows
Or on the right side of a cliff
for on the wrong side we drop to the unknown
When we are younger death seemed unreal
It was something for older folks not young
Then comes the first time we lose someone
We begin to realize that there is no coming back
Once you are gone you are gone for good
You have stepped over that cliff
Never to be seen or heard from again.
As you grow and get old, life seems shorter
We know that we all must die, sometime
We all hope it is later and not sooner
But when death comes we have leave
Nothing is taken with us , all is left behind
We have faith to guide us into the next world
But, we also have that fear of the unknown
We have that fear if we have been good enough
For the life we have just lived
We worry about the loved ones we leave behind
We pray we have walked the right path
As we grew, some religions talk about heaven and hell
Heaven as a beautiful place in all cases
But, hell as a burning inferno in some cases
Others, steps we take that we have to learn
to make it into heaven.
Whatever the case may be ,we all still wonder
What it will be like
In some cases, others think that once you die
That is it, you are bones in the ground
Nothing more.
We are never prepared when death comes to our door
When he knocks we are gone.
I truly hope I see the light and not the darkness
My gloomy thoughts on this rainy day.

Bless your heart Phyllis there is no death. But if there was are we not lucky to have come this far. So many have fallen as children or as soldiers all over the world. It is different to be on the far side of time, but I feel lucky to have laughed and cried and loved so many beautiful people.. Have fun your not gone yet! Be happy because you can

Phyllis, this is a lot of deep thoughts... the people we live behind, and wondering what path is right... the oddest of life is when these kind of thoughts take place... it's funny how a gloomy day can provoke all of the thoughts and make it seem ever so closer of death being at the door... an extremely fine poem.. love it.. My dear friend Phyllis, I'm stopping by to visit you & read this very beautiful poem of yours. It's a sad one but I love it. It has all the truth of life in this world. I'll fave this if you don't mind. Most of the time all these deep thoughts & feeling come to my mind as well. The first I lost was my dad. I'm still sad. My health-I doubt but I just entrusted everything to Him. Well, thank you so much for sharing. Hope you are doing well now. Have a blessed weekend! Hugs! love lots, Leonora

- I must admit that I also have thought these thoughts - it's like you writing, we will come to a point in life where this is natural "deep" thoughts. - Very well written my dear friend Phyllis. - oxox / / Anne-Lise :) x 2
