Cypress

The Cypress stands still against the creaking and crumbling foliage the Cypress is cautious in the continual wind. It's two main branches keep the thousands of others aloft and in dreamy comfort, the wind singing a woodland lullaby of a few dozen notes. One of the branches spoke to the other. I am the law, the jurisprudence, the physical path to the Way. All follow my edicts and directions for I am the first branch seen by the travelers. All know my ways, emulate me! The other large branch, swayed in agreement to what the other had spoken. Indeed you are important, it is however sad that most pilgrims on the Way, do not know me at all. For I too lead men along the path, being the internal teacher of the Way. The Heart, inner dimensions, and the feelings of the soul are my lessons. Some know me by many names and some emulate me. However some wish to cut me down and just focus on me, while others wish to sever me and burn me, reduce me to nothing more then an ashen memory. Both large branches sighed a breezy sigh, praying that all along the Way would remember them both. That this journey you need both External/Internal, Law/ Spirituality and Mind, Heart and Soul only with the full picture, will the vision be seen.
