Contrapuntal Moon - Parts One and Two

Part One. A silent yawn, the moon awakes. Compels its patron planet's shape. As oceans shift by its command And with its might recasts the land. Below the lunar rings of mist, A strip of cloud, a stolen kiss. The harvest yields a poet's line on hay-rides of forgotten rhyme. Part Two. While far beneath the grain we reap, Magnetic powers guard our sleep; But in this source protecting Earth, It warps the minds of some at birth A missing foresight of control, Malignant thoughts that urge, cajole. Your moonlit steps they wait to hear; A twisted grin, as you grow near. Iambic Tetrameter / Cateletic. Rhyme / AA-BB Gene Bourne 02-02-14 .

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Meanwhile, I greet you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed.

Thanks for your note. The blogs are a good way of getting to know other poets. Most of us communicate there rather than in the forum. There are also extra tabs on the blog writer stating a bio and photos...then there is soupmail the first little icon next to a poets avatar.. You can also view the latest poems by clicking the 'poems by poet link ' from the left column. Enjoy. SuZ

Thanks for the offer to help, Suzanne. I might be asking for some tips, as it's still a bit confusing. The "Fav List" is a great idea. I'll add you to mine. Thanks for the comment about my poetry. I once wrote mainly in free verse...but my background in music and the challenge of meter I enjoy. Have a great weekend.....Your PS friend....Gene.

aha, it's your first poem here! This one has an eerie ending. I think you are describing those born " a bad seed" I loved the second stanza pulling in the romance under the moon. Hay rides of forgotten rhyme . AWESOME line.

Hi, Andrea. I dropped a nostalgic & plunged into a dark poem abruptly. In hindsight, I imposed on the reader, selfishly. 2 incomplete poems exist here. Perhaps a light and dark version. This poem troubles me more than any other I've composed. Your comment is a succinct reminder and so correctly stated. Why I picked it as my first post on PS mystifies me....YF....Gene

I appreciate you contacting me, Timothy. My first few hours of navigating around, attempting to "figure out" how PS works is a bit daunting. Your writing possesses a strength and ease I find appealing. Your "Rose" poem, Iambic Tetrameter, as was mine. I occasionally write in the Horror / Suspenseful Category. . I couldn't find the meter type listed. Thanks so much for contacting me. Your message has helped me a part of this comprehensive site. I look forward to reading your other poems and commenting. Thanks for the welcome, Anne. You were the first to welcome me There's much to learn-as-I go. (duh) ( like moving to a new large city), Hopefully one day, navigating PS will seem second nature. Your thoughtfulness in welcoming me is very much appreciated. Your kindness has made me feel welcome and I feel as if I have a foot in the door. Have a wonderful day. Gene Bourne.
