C Is For Courage
C is for courage right?
Some people are born with a load of it,
Some look for it to fit,
Others try to find it but don’t,
Yet everyone has it but they know not.
Ever felt your legs shake,
You heard your heart beating in your throat,
And for a moment it stopped a beat,
Well…that was fear in all its harshest.
Don’t know if you ran,
Or if you hid or wailed like a baby,
I don’t know if you went back into hiding,
But that was fear and it doesn’t own you.
You see fear is a liar,
It whispers nasty things to our ears,
Making us age many years,
Making us last where we should’ve been winners.
But there is that voice from within,
That whispers,” girl you can do it,”
It’s soft and calls from afar,
Sometime we shut it out,
But like a distant song it calls,
Patiently waiting for us to say,”hie.”
That is courage, that little voice,
That burns like afire,
That holds us up when our knees are shaking,
That shows us to breathe when we fear,
That whispers you are a winner,
When you can’t even smell the victory.
Courage lets us cry but still pushes us to do it,
Courage keeps us company,
When our hearts are beating a drum roll,
Courage allows us to jump even though we fear the fall.
It’s a fire inside us, but so is fear,
It all depends in which fire we choose to fan,
Hope you choose courage and you will soar.
