There's better singers than me here tonight
Better players that's for sure
I wondered if I'd make it to the mike
I longed to use the exit door.
I didn't come expecting anything
And I'm not craving your respect
I just came along to do my thing
I guess I came here to connect.
Music's always been a friend to me
My solace when I'm feeling down
My guitar plays on in sad sympathy
And cheers well this crying clown
And yet I know it is the same for you
Hide in the music but rejoice
I hear it in the notes you're picking through
And feel it in your plaintive voice
I aint been here for quite some time
Don't know why I've stayed away
Everybody here has been so kind
Why don't I just get up and play
Still got fears running round my head
Doubts that will not let me go
Something crucifying someone said
Some crass remark from long ago.
There's better singers here than me tonight
Better players that's for sure
That's why I never made it to the mike
Just walked on through the exit door...
PLEASE WATCH ME SING THIS IN CONCERT ON YOUTUBE.
IT IS LISTED ON THERE AS ' CAME HERE TO CONNECT' LOUIS SPENCE .
MANY THANKS.
