Since the contest is now over, I thought I'd like to play along:) I picked a line which nobody else chose. It looked like so much fun, I had to give it a go. Poetry is supposed to be fun! Another big Thank you, to all who participated in my first contest:):)  This is a mind bender. You might have to think about it:)

When mining thoughts, how deafening the ring We search the walls of silence for a vein A golden verse to strum on soft heart strings To touch someone and stake a poet's claim We chip away, in rubble, as we pick It falls as wads of paper on the floor When suddenly a glowing candlewick We've struck the mother lode of metaphors And as the liquid gold flows through the pen In words of love and matters of the heart The muse begins to tingle deep within While he assays the worth of this new art These nuggets that we find could be for sale If bells are ringing, don't throw down the pail. The perfect description of the thought process of a poet looking for his inspiration and then BAM! or Dingaling! The bell rings deep in the soul...and it's "golden". Love this poem, Danny.

This is a poet's poem Daniel. A poem that another poet can immediately identify with. Your first line is so succinct it could stand alone. Excellent verse my friend! I am glad to see you participate in choosing a line from your contest that no one used. Cheers, Connie

I love the analogy here of poetry being a gold vein that we need to dig out and bring into the light. Very creative use of metaphors and theme Daniel.
