After the Fall
Today I remembered
When love was eternal
When my mind could paint a picture,
of you without flaw
How distant it all seems
A wistful dream, perhaps
A time of enchantment,
when love was a river to be traveled
with a rising sun on its banks
When music was the binding thread,
woven into cloth worn by desire,
as we waited for the sun to set,
to create a perfect union
where love was vibrant evenings we inhabited
filled with color
Today, yesterday, tomorrow,
they're all the same
I close my eyes hear a single heartbeat
still feeling the rush of each storm,
that came, after the fall,
and the world turned to black and white
