Autumns Gone. I Give you Winter

Fresher than a summer day
Through breath filled air we face the road
The tourists all have gone away
And frost filled nights their seed have sowed
To make the fall days their length erode

The beach is ours though not alone
White gulls push through storm filled air
Then rest on waves peaked high with foam
Their world holds neither hope nor care
But sky and sea with laissez faire

Together, close with cold clasped hands
The sharp wind cutting like a knife
Two set of footprints in the sand
We breathe in the elixir of life
And welcome winter with drum and fife

Magnificent, Eamon! It's so great to see you writing for the contests and becoming an active member in all respects here. I love your description of winter by the seaside and the way welcome the season with your loved one at your side. Best wishes in the contest! Love, Carolyn
