As I Walk.

As I walk down the street in my hijab people stop and stare. What do I care. I have the right to choose, for they are the ones who'll lose. As I walk down the street in my hijab people turn the other way. I am who I am. I am not a bad person. Don't judge me because of how I look. I am who I am. I have my beliefs and you have yours. As I walk down the street in my hijab, I feel proud. It is aloud. So next time you see a woman with a scarf, don't turn the other way. Just smile and say 'good day'.

yasmin i rate your poem the highest score 7. i love your poem It is so true what you said. People judge one another just by looking on the outward appearance, and do not take time to get to know you, and that is sad, because those same people they judge are the nicest people on earth. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and is who they arebelieve what they believe and so on. i will surely read a lot more of your poems.

I love this piece a lot. I love the hijab and the connection you made with how people react in the piece...I wear my blackness everyday and I sometimes get the same stare..makes me want to write a piece..very inspiring.
