Weight of rain on branches among the red, brings down a shower of leaves over my head. Each tired maple flower, is abandoned, and left to die.~ In the stillness after the rain ends, nothing can be heard but the drops falling.

i think this is a lovely, evocative write of autumn rain, and i like the bit of rhyme in there...'tired' is one of those tricky syllabic words, isn't it - congrats on your win in andrea's contest! :)

Carrie, I think this one would have made it higher except for line 7. Most syllable counters tell us that "tired" is one syllable, but I found one that said two, so I felt justified in at least giving you fifth place here. I just loved this descriptive rain poem.
