Alternative Solutions
Prayers cannot feed starving millions
as bloated bellies can attest.
Yet, the truth's unpalatable,
near impossible to digest.
Dangled in front of hungry eyes,
promises raise expectations.
And trust defies reality,
fueling false aspirations.
Predictions of times of plenty
are planted as kernels of hope.
Yet, seeds of opportunity,
are sowed on a slippery slope.
Paradise is a fantasy,
there is really no such place.
But religions proclaim there is,
struggling to maintain a straight face.
Rose-colored glasses tint views
of alternative solutions.
And so, we fortify wishes
with optimistic illusions.
