Jagged Shards

You abandoned me last night
after all was done and said.
And my heart instantly broke,
waking to an empty bed.
You ran away from my love
as sleep veiled my trusting eyes.
And fear was all too real,
for you left with no goodbyes.
Love was a fantasy dream;
a mirage fate broke apart.
And as the fragments shattered,
its jagged shards pierced my heart.
I'm teetering on the edge
that defines sane from insane.
And my heart's devastated;
time cannot console my pain.
Acid tears dissolve color,
leaving only shades of grey.
But I'm still in love with you
and pray you'll return someday.
