A Tornado Siren Screams From Souls

A tornado siren screams from souls Killed in last night’s storm In a horn on top a pole Scream souls of those we mourn The spirits give no trumpet’s test Nor kind compassioned words A graveyard will be dug and filled, lest The spirit’s cries are heard Listen! Through the roar Of trains run off their rails Through the rip, that lightning tore And the crash of brimstone hail Hear the message that winds brought nigh! A message stern and true Hear the spirits loudly cry: What befell us, now befalls you!

Parts three and four of a longer poem. Poem synopsis: A tornado destroys a town and kills many members of the town. The townspeople had no warning since the tornado siren didn't work. The next night, the tornado returns. The souls of the townspeople killed in last night's storm arise from the wreckage, go into the tornado siren, and begin to scream. The screaming of the souls warn the townspeople that the tornado has returned. The townspeople are saved and the tornado never returns.
