how charmed, that pitter-patter on the glass
the trickled weep upon each windowpane
an April code from heaven, sent en masse
to tell me hope is blooming 'midst the rain
(a tap-tap-tap of spring-tide's soft refrain)
this rain is sent like nectar from the gods
to give each chance at life the fairest odds
or hear a strain the rain has gently wrung
from tender clouds, now all of life applauds
as with the rain, that song is sweetly sung.
