A Plastic Bag

...from the movie, 'American Beauty' A plastic bag, a windy day, darting, dancing high and low, coquettish in her flight of fancy, all in all, a one-bag show; a street performer with a twist, I wish you could have seen her, a holder meant for groceries, an no-name ballerina. Erratic, yes, but orchestrated, it's as if a puppeteer controlled the choreography, a protege without a peer; she soared and swooped, this virtuoso, then the errant wind was gone, no pirouettes to look upon, and I was left to ruminate, an audience of one.

Just lovely for my mind to see the dance of this strange partner but the acrobatics are wonderful and your words provide the grace to perform with the wond. Such a treasure to read Keith!

A wonderful write, Keith! Fun to find something to bring into a poem. "Plastc Bags", papers, or whatnot, can take on their own dance when entertained by "this virtuoso".:) love, Mikki

i remember that scene so vividly and you've perfectly captured that joyous plastic bag dance. what fun that you've rhymed "could have seen her" and "ballerina" - that is clever! this is another gem, keith, which i very much enjoyed...

In Canada we have to pay 5 cents for a plastic bag so now you do not see so many floating in the wind. NICE flowing poem you have penned. love phyl

and you didn't use the word "kite" once - didn't need to. This is such a special one. "as if a puppeteer controlled the choreography" Bravo! love, Kathy p.s. I do hope that bag ended up in the recycle bin.
