A Place

I have seen fair lady April
Dance with daffodils;
I have seen the misty dawn
Light moors and windy hills.
Painted in dark shadows
Of a sunlit afternoon
I have smelled the heady scent
Where blue hyacinths commune.

I have heard the curlew's call
As she sailed the wild dark sea;
And seen the sailor guide his ship
In the dream that used to be.
I have known precious moments
In the echoes of a song;
But I never knew the comfort of
A place where I belong.

    What a spark of beauty blended with the melodies of sound and smell of flowers, you have created here Elizabeth. Any artist would make some of his best paintings, if he can grasp the beauty you have sketched in your serene words in this lovely write. I would mark it as my fav. one my friend. Love and best wishes always...Ravindra..Elizabeth Wesley.

    Serene... lovely language and imagery. '...fair lady April,' '...where blue hyacinths commune,' (I love the way you follow 'blue' with 'commune - nice assonance!) You always craft your poems so carefully... rhyme and rhythm? perfection... as usual! :)

    Oie, I think that all the above places are all pieces of where you belong, Elizabeth! When we "see the sailor guide his ship In the dream that used to be", it may be time to untangle the moorings for the seas are vast, and your imagination is so profound! Best wishes, Mikki :)

    Your poem reads like a beautiful song Liz, and I believe this one is in your book? It is really wonderful. Baby gained a pound and a half and is doing well. Thanks, I bought her a little outfit (for 6 mos.) today with butterflies on it. It is purple.

    Very nice Liz. A joy to read (3 or 4 times and maybe more). It was good thought and good rhyme as well as picturesque. Just what I look for in a poem. Thanks for the smile. Rockman :-)
