A Great Lady

A Great Lady

She made every summer happy and free,
with sleepovers out in the country.

She made sticky buns and lemon tea,
on her old wood stove just for me.

She had good words for one and all,
and a ear to listen to everyone woes.

She was warm, loving with a heart of gold,
                             A great lady, my Grandma.

Appreciating what the old generation has offered to us at the dawn of our life is a sign of nobility of the heart. May the Good Lord keep her at His side. Thank you for your comment. Lovely writing!

Anne, I don't remember any of my grandparents except my maternal grandfather. The other three I can't recall. I was the youngest of 7 children. When I read your poem I am reminded of what I missed. Great write... Jake

Your poem reminds me of visiting my Grandma. I was a city kid... But got to help her can food, work in her garden, make quilts, play with all the farm animals... And the smell of her cooking lingers with me even now, even after so many years.

Your Grandma sounded like such a wonderful woman, such an ideal grandma and you are so blessed to have had her... this made me smile, thank you Anne. Also, thank you so much for your very touching words in my poems-- to have someone read it and be moved, and make some kind of difference in them is so much more than I can ask for people reading my poetry. My heartfelt thanks to you, friend. I am sorry for your loss and God bless you.

Hi Anne Thank you for your very kind comments on my poem. I can say, truthfully, having had an out of body experience I know God is real. If you wish to know more then I will tell you. May Gos richly bless you and give you His comfort at this time. Robert CD
