Who I Thought You Were
WHO I THOUGHT YOU WERE
Collaboration Poem Dave Wood and Jan Allison
You've gone and broken my heart in two
a thousand death night, I can't let it go
Now we're simply known as me and you
and together forever we will never know
Crushed and bleeding is my aching heart
this moonlit sky just makes me weak
Packed your bags, tore my world apart
wishing on stars 'cause I just can't sleep
Something so good, gone terribly wrong
it was in this very park where "we" began
I thought our relationship was oh so strong
now a lonely night's muse without my man
You walked out on me, you really didn’t care
hidden heart of stone a dreamer's saboteur
I pull out your photograph and simply stare
no longer dying for you..
but who I thought you were!
