Sister Sally's Stew

Somebody, and I won't tell who, stuck some sticks of bubble gum in sister Sally's stew. Mom and daddy, me and Drew, watched my sister chew and chew. She popped pink bubbles with each bite, smiling and smacking with great delight. "More, more, more stew," she said, as peas and potatoes stuck to her head. And the more she ate, the more she blew, and the more we all wanted some of that bubble gum stew! Our mother was always telling us to try something new. So for dinner that night, we all ate sister Sally's stew. I had to think like a child again to write this, Richard, and I think this poem works because I was enjoying the process of writing it.

Thanks Jan, for reading my attempt at humor. Yes, it is like a tongue twister when you read it aloud. But I'm hoping the parents with children will pass it on to them. They might enjoy the humor because most of them like bubble gum anywhere they can get it, even in stew! Blessings, Darlene
