She Knew She Was New To Me

SHE KNEW SHE WAS NEW TO ME There are too few people who get me The ones that know what I am and what I do Some of them understand and let me And one of them was you There are certain people who are aware They know where I’m headed and set for what course There are certain people who were just born to care And they’re concern isn’t born of force No, these are the people who see what I am and don’t mind The ones who worry but somehow know I’ll make it through People created by this universe simply to be kind And too oft I don’t know why they do what they do Perhaps it’s the smile I wish was inside my frown Or the happiness I’ll probably never see in a world of pain Someone who lifts me up when I fall down A humanitarian who protects me from a torrential rain Some people see in my eyes that I ain’t all that wise Yet they put up with the things my body tells me to do Certain individuals who I consider an unexpected prize AND ONE OF THEM WAS CERTAINLY YOU!
