For my friend, who is depressed.
If you can’t lift your hand,
I’ll lift it.
If light hurts your eyes,
We’ll keep it dark.
If you cannot stand,
I’ll sit beside you.
If you need my arm,
It’s here,
Comforting and warm.
And if you have no words,
Who needs them,
We’ll be together in this bed,
Under the blankets until you
Said all the nothing
To be said.
I am here and I will stay here,
Until you find your legs again.
Until your head is thinking
Clearly.
Until you find yourself again.
