Broken
Never give your love to a broken man
Broken in spirit, he feels there is no hope,
Nothing to offer but superficial affection
He can spend time with you, but he is not with you,
Spends money on you, but he is far from you.
His heart is broken, mind is broken,
Stuck in the past, stuck on broken.
Oh, but he knows how to criticize well,
He can heap fiery coals where necessary,
Even to lament the vestige of racism.
Cause his tongue ain’t broken.
Broken in spirit, he can do many things
But none of them permanent.
You may conceive his children,
But you cannot keep them,
For he is far too broken to be accepting.
Broken man crippled by fear,
He’s been broken so long,
He does not care.
To survive my dear, you must let go,
Cause you’ve been set free.
So goodbye and good riddance
Cause being broken is not your portion.
