As the Ink Fades

The diagnosis was bleak, the prognosis was cast My pen, like I, will soon rest in peace Sadly, this poem will be my last My hands tremble as these words I release A tear hits the page, the ink begins to fade My pen, like I will soon rest in peace It's so hard to say goodbye to all the friends I've made Indeed you've become like family A tear hit the page, the ink begins to fade Your poems did inspire me I treasure the beauty of their sublime refrains Indeed you've become like family So farewell beloved poets, perhaps we'll meet again On the distant shores of eternity Where we'll treasure the beauty of sublime refrains I stare towards the heavens where my soul will soon be set free The diagnosis was bleak, the prognosis was cast Soon I'll be on the distant shores of eternity So sadly, this poem will be my last. ----- 8-28-2015

It's a very piercing emotional piece. The terrain of desperation showcased nicely.

I love that you did yours in form! The terzanelle is a most fitting and beautiful form for a final poem such as this. WELL DONE.

Personally I found it very emotional to write my 'final poem' we never know when it truly will be out last. Love the repeated lines here Joseph - good luck in the contest:-) hugs Jan xx
