Our Greatest Christmas Gift

As I stare at our beautiful lighted Christmas tree, My mind takes me back to childhood visions and how it used to be. A popcorn garland and garland made from colored paper connected rings, Those were the days of simple things. And bubbling lights that were so pretty and bright, Brought such grandeur to our tree at night. The tree it self was freshly cut with two boards nailed to the bottom to make it stand. The aroma given off was a treat in it self to me that was Christmas I hope you understand. Our presents were wrapped and carefully placed under the tree. When no one was looking we’d shake em and shake em just trying to see. And always on Christmas our church would put on a play, Of Wise men and shepherds and Baby Jesus lying in the hay. To turn back the clock would be such a treat, The Spirit of Christmas was so wonderful and sweet. But now it’s all glitter and glamour with no fun as before, And they’ve taken poor Jesus and refuse to celebrate Him anymore. Jesus is the only reason why anyone should celebrate the day, Of all the gifts you’ve ever received, Jesus is our greatest in every way.
