Her Hundredth Birthday Party

It was quiet in the meeting room just down the hall, as I came in. I knew that she would be, as well. And there she was, propped in her wheel chair, body in pink jumpsuit, cocked far to the side, not quite asleep. For her, there was no false facade. One saw, and got a mumbling ancienne and no apologies. Then suddenly it was time for people, punch, and platitudes, kids and candy mints and cake. The honored guest, forsaken just as if she were not there, reached out...I saw her once, accepting then one small remembrance, but too late, the speaker had already turned away and I, but for the press of day, had need to cry; they missed it-- souls who turned hello into goodbye. The small ones never really knew you, mom, and that's ok; your spirit longs to break away. The authors of the books you knew, will soon make room for Elna in their dusty rooms along a corridor in paradise where dusty reticence is blown away by one enchanted newborn spirit soul and her new spirit breath of joy. ~

A touchingly searing write, Dean. Sounds like a lonely departure, even though the place had been filled with people there in her honour. Still I'm sure she'd left with peace and joy in her heart! This chocolate is chewy, Dean. Keep well!!! Love, Mikki

I understand this one, you'll be pleased to know! and I like it a lot, it's very poignant, but the final stanza is uplifting :-) I'll continue to read, though I do struggle with some (not all) I don't feel I can really comment or criticize if I don't fully understand the piece, so sometimes I may read but not leave a comment...as for 'voices', keep taking the pills! lol seriously, I've heard them too on rare occasions, it's called clairaudience, but I'm mostly clairsentient...(you have mail...)

I need to know when you do not understand. I am usually willing to clarify the situation. Clairaudience, clairsentiance and clairvoyance are all desirable so far as I am concerned. Some have all of them, and some insist that they can be developed. Dunno. I've tried. Maybe some day if I live long enough I'll make some progress,
