Clinging To a Memory

A quiet stream in a secret place I look in the water and see your face Sitting here beside me The way we were before you left me You touched my hand so tenderly And promised this was how we’d always be And now I sit here all alone With just a memory to cling on Foolish one they would say Did you really think he would stay He was never yours one would say And your foolish heart drove him away Now I sit in a world of my own Sitting here all alone Maybe they were right but look there in the water I see His face smiling up at me He has come back to me But alas t is the last thing I see
