6th Street Is Crowded - the 6th Street Series - Part 1

10:00 pm 6th street is crowded, not unusual for a Friday night Had a few beers, settle the nerves Seems a constant, but I’m ok with it The back room is smoky, it always is Peering through the haze Holding my strat, feels good Tuned and ready…always tuned and ready Colored lights create silhouettes Faces staring with no features Ready to do this, for them or me, both I think Familiar opening licks, tensing but loosening The energy hits me fast, their energy and strings become butter, manipulated into something heavy They react, we react, rock lives I can hear it breathing again Marshall amps vibrate, lost in the music, eyes closed, feeling it 6th street is crowded and life is good The 6th Street I am talking about is in Austin Texas. It is the center of the musical world in that city. You can find any kind of music you like being played live in any of a number of different clubs on this street There are four parts to this series if you care to see them. Actually there are 5, but # 5 would probably be a bit much for this site.

What's the name of your band Chris? I saw S.R.V. in 1984 in Melbourne, he blew my mind! I've seen many greats like Santana, B.B.King and so on, but none compare To Stevie. Rock on Bro!

Thanks Rick. I saw Stevie a few times, that dude could play. No band right now, that was before and the poem is basically fictional, though based on some real experiences. I am a musician and still play, but not in a band setting. Mostly now I just write.
