Galatians 3:23: Before the coming of this faith, we were held in custody under the law, locked up until the faith that was to come would be revealed. (NIV)

Now before the faith came, we were perpetually guarded under the Law, kept in custody in preparation for the faith that was destined to be revealed (unveiled, disclosed), (AMP)
