Poem
I knew that I had to go somewhere but I did not know where I knew I had to go somewhere that was not very far from here So I put on my long jacket, made a cup of hot chocolate and head through the door I walked slowly down the street sipping my hot chocolate and absorbing the heat and carefully scrutinizing everyone going up and down the street The rogues were everywhere hiding out in big houses Winter has stripped the bushes away showing up every crevices and corner and their tainted law and order There is something dynamic about winter it makes everything seems so improper It exposes everything and portion out everyone's share The cold itches and bite too sprinkling artificial snow in the air creating artificial snow blowing employment melting the artificial ice and tossing the wrong dice But nature is waiting patiently on you to bridge the gap and tell everything that is true I walked along chain-bridge road searching for the end of the road To take that final giant leap and appease my burdensome soul I kept walking in an afternoon that looked cold dark and grim Everything was gloomy and unhappiness frowned desperately seeking forgiveness As I approached Vienna town the smell of burnt firewood circulated all around It saturated the atmosphere leaving the birds to converge in the mystical tree As I walked further the smell gets broader and broader I looked across the road eyeing an old brick house on the corner of the street I could smell a sweet aroma escaping from the border it opened my appetite and propelled me to higher heights It reminds me of the British stories I used to read when I was little girl Those old British and German nursery rhymes built up my sensational imagination I used to spend lots of time on the farm climbing trees and building tree houses in mango and orange trees I fed on sweet oranges, mangoes and avocado pears, ripe banana, guava and plum grapefruit and tangerine This is why my immune system is so strong and my speed is faster than everyone I don't have to take anything from underneath or over the pharmaceutical counter I used to listen to the birds singing in the trees and they often appease my heart beat The smell coming from the chimney brought back a lot of happy memories The fire fighters were on the road too putting out a fire that was not true They were all wearing Santa clause gears it seems as if the were coming from a mighty fair flashing their blazing red lights silently through the street and greeting everyone You see there is always something about poverty it is never too far from the wealthy My mother always say this phrase"the chip never fly far from the block" Its sticks right up their "behind" and lie within close proximity I have always noticed this trend going around the bend Every neighborhood that I have been has a similar pattern within The beginning and the end is strong and upbeat but somewhere the middle is always spewing through their teeth and have nothing to eat As I crossed over into the town of Vienna and looked I saw Hispanics everywhere they are looking cold and bare I heard that they do not live there but somebody brought them there in a big school bus and a construction truck They converged in the big gas station dressed up in red washing cars for their Saturday evening meal The Koreans are around too everywhere they make a zoo Disrespecting the authority, intimidating and occupying big properties and waving sticks around the whips I dear not say what is proper So let conscience speaks and scrub the dirty streets As I wander up the street the sun began to listen to my heart beat It peak slowly over Oakton hill watching the trees standing still And spilling its light all over me on Vienna street I felt a sudden peace inside as if someone was literally guiding me And that person was physically walking beside me Vienna is a quite little town packed with small business and small boutiques it has a strong European essence I walked passed the wolf-trap hotel, the performing art center many animal clinics and a barrage of eye doctors The businesses within usually tells a lot about the community As I walked closer up the hill something significant grabbed my attention a polish market and a Mongolian restaurant walking hand in hand I started wonder about the significance of this combination I continued walking hoping to find something crude that would recapture my docile mood but there was nothing dramatic or exciting Winter was raging havoc within and everyone surrendering The town has English,German , French,Italian and a touch of Austrian but I felt no American sentiments. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Continued in another poem titled The Nifty Town 2
