Poem
A father is supposed to be a man of integrity, a respectable role model to look up to, a father should be there for all eternity, not someone tearing your childhood in two. So what makes a father a good “daddy”? What brings him the greatest joy in life? Should it be his children who adore him? That along with his faithful and loyal wife? I’ve seen the dangerous bottle take him, I’ve felt the pain he’s inflicted upon us, but since sobriety called his name, now there’s no one else I can trust. See, I’ve been where he was thirty years ago, my world too has been torn by alcohol and drugs, and guess who took me under his wing? Sewed me back together when life tugs. That man I was scared of growing up, became my true God-given inspiration, he guided me into my own sobriety, and I became a whole new creation. Teaching me tools on how to live clean, providing support when I struggled with cravings, he brought me to a place I never thought I’d be, and was the only one who did the saving. Inspiration is the key to any success, my apprehension led me to a place of fear, but my father grew up to be my daddy, and because of him I am still here. Forgiveness is the tool for wrong doings, pardoning for things he and I said, we’ve hurt so many dear loved ones, and had mornings of trepidation and dread. But my father gave me faith to keep living, and he brought me serenity where once was pain, encouragement to be a great mom and wife, and waking up to honesty and loyalty again. A father is supposed to be a man of integrity, and my father gave me the path to motivation, he struggled for years with addiction as I did, and became my number one greatest inspiration.
