Where are the times, I use to know Family and friends were never foes So much leaves me to wonder why Jesus, hold me while I cry Lately, life has become so busy The world so demanding, never easy The truth, many trade for a lie Jesus, hold me while I cry Many trading salvation for an idol The heart of man, so very prideful Seeking their lusts to gratify Jesus, hold me while I cry Many bearing false witness Crowds gather in to listen Their envy they must satisfy Jesus, hold me while I cry Greed taking over hearts of many Cheating their neighbor, over a penny Eternity money can never buy Jesus, hold me while I cry The killing of babies, sweeps our land To the criminal, no authority's hand How does this world justify Jesus, hold me while I cry Children starving across the land Poverty strikes the working hand The world no longer willing to try Jesus, hold me while I cry Murder in our streets Drugs ending in defeat Malice raging in many eyes Jesus, hold me while I cry Nation rising against nation While many practice abominations Long ago, peace said good-bye Jesus, hold me while I cry Our children are no longer safe Predators lurking in every place Watching our children with an evil eye Jesus, hold me while I cry Our government rejecting your Holy Name Opening the door, evil came Wondering where the blame lies Jesus, hold me while I cry Churches preaching their own version Creating from within much diversion Your Holy word they defy Jesus, hold me while I cry No one preaching to the lost To one's soul what is the cost In their hearts they justify Jesus, hold me while I cry Chains of sin, souls are bound Souls of many never found Time is quickly passing by Jesus, hold me while I cry The church praying in disobedience Wondering why you never listen The world they must pacify Jesus, hold me while I cry No longer seeking the righteous way Many neglecting to kneel and pray Out of their mouths come many lies Jesus, hold me while I cry In your word, hearts wax cold Never to speak, few are bold Silence sings the world a lullaby Jesus, hold me while I cry Depression takes over the mind Seeking peace, never to find Days of darkness, sleeping one lies Jesus, hold me while I cry This world, I long to say farewell On this earth no longer to dwell Until my time from this life, to fly Jesus, hold me while I cryi Written by: Donetta Harless Wednesday, July 26, 2016
