Poem
The King was very angry; his first cousin had refused to bow before him. The cousin wanted his throne. So much his stomach turned and boiled with rage, that he plotted to kill him. He then summoned Chi, his trusted and loyal counselor. "How shall I kill my cousin? with assassins, poison, combat, black magic, drowning....." The counselor was quiet for a while, then he said, "So many lifetimes you'll be born if you take away his life. There are many peaceful solutions to problems, without causing any harm or bloodshed". The king looked displeased, but swallowed his anger. "Who told you that?" "It's the principle of the universe". The king then asked him how he would learn those principles, and Chi told him when only he's calm and harbor no hatred, that he could learn the principles. "I hate you for your arrogance!" the King shouted. "So many lifetimes you'll be born if you try to understand the principles of the universe with anger and hate", Chi replied. The king drew his sword from it's scabbard, and pointed it at Chi. "I'll kill you, you old fool!" "So many lifetimes you'll be born if you kill, easily get angered, or fail to listen to counsel", Chi replied.
