Poem
Growing up they would always put me in a box, a box left alone to sink So I learned I needed to go outside, just go outside to think Outside the whispers, outside the lies, outside all the demands, outside all the cry’s People always asking and telling me a million different things but what about what I want, I tell them I want to be my own king But all they see is this broken halo above my head, been struggling everyday and every night They assume and always tell me what they think I should do, but none of you have ever walked down my street or seen the holes in my shoes Or the holes in heart, filled by the tears from my eyes Seems like I’m always looking for a second chance while moving forward like I’m living life in a constant pause and rewind But press play and hear my broken fairy tale summed up in one day This morning was yesterday just an angel without hope and a broken wing This afternoon is right now and although my once upon a time has a few dark pages of a wounded angel just trying to get by, this angel still has wings, so this angel can still fly, all I have to do is tell the pain goodbye And hello to the evening or future, where I sit back and share my testimony on life About broken hearts and heavy tears…but guess what? I’m still here Because although the world will always throw rain on my sunny day I just remember that I was still blesses with another day So instead of bowing to the hardships this angel thinks outside the box and finds a sanctuary inside where my heart and mind are left safe to lay Just because it’s raining doesn’t mean it’s a bad day. p.s. keep your head above the clouds...
