Poem
I slept in my bed last night without fear. He slept in fear last night without a bed, but he had a blanket made of bravery. Yesterday, I was missing a friend I had not seen in a week. Yesterday, he was missing his family that he had not seen in months. I put sunscreen on for protection before I go outside. He puts on a bullet proof vest for protection before he goes outside. The Sun, like our enemies, beats down on us relentlessly, occasionally burning our skin and making us red. But the house around us, our soldiers, relentlessly protect us from the Sun's rays and heat. We are fortunate enough to live in an American House, Whose very foundations selflessly hold us up sturdy, tall, and free. The house's doors are made of the Coast Guard, a sign of welcome but also a sign of security. Its walls are made of Marines. Sturdy, never shaken. Its floor boards are made of the Army, giving us something to stand tall on. Giving us the ability to roam free. Its wires, pipes, heating and air are made of the Navy, reliable and smart. Making us feel comfortable. Its roof is made of the Air Force, protecting us from above. Making it so when we look up, we see skies of freedom. Those that were born and raised in the American House are lucky, for they enjoy securities other houses do not have. Other houses envy that we can roam, speak, worship, and do as we please without our house tumbling down on us. So long as we are in the American House we are safe and free, protected by the selfless heroes our house is made of.
