Under The Covers By MEH3 They say put your head under the cover when you’re scared But that’s only temporarily to block out the fears We learned at an early age how to hold back our tears Only if we learnt that it was ok to face our fears At times we needed to cry but heard Don’t cry baby, dry your eyes everything will be alright! Even when it hurt and the pain was deep We were always told to be tough and get back on our feet But only if we were taught to stop hiding under the cover Maybe today we wouldn’t be so quick to get stuck under the sheets But face those barriers and turn doubt into faith Ask yourself is that what you do today? Put your head under the cover and say everything will be ok But God said “fear no evil, for you are with me His rod and His staff thy comfort me” But we were taught to hide from evil and the things that we feared To hide from the dark And once the light appeared Everything will be clear And the shadows over there will disappear Instead when we came up we still saw the shadows of fear What if that was God standing over there? Did we just hide from a blessing only because it was dark And we couldn’t see exactly what was there Because we were too busy putting our heads under the cover Instead of facing our fears God could’ve be trying to show you what was near But we are programmed to hide when we are scared WOW! The things that we thought was to protect us Only put blinders on us Not allowing us to see our real Protector! Today, when difficult times are near We still hide our heads and try not to see what’s there I challenge you to stop hiding in defeat Get on your feet and continue this journey Because the false beliefs Of hiding under the cover Will only allow you to see The darkness under the sheets! So remember don't hold on to grief Because of our false beliefs It's your time to allow yourself to feel And stop peeking from under the sheets But Face your fears And shed a tear Then you will have new beliefs To teach The next generation To actually fear Hiding under the sheets Because it will only lead to more grief Under The Covers #ItzMeThePoet
