Poem
The whole day, my mind was blossoming, Keeping me busy with humming and chuckling. Though the sky was raining, couldn’t upset my spirit, I was struggling myself to ponder on what the professor was saying… Where was the meaning of ‘Metaphysical love’ remaining? He was lecturing on ‘John Donne’, But I was looking at my wristwatch, Hearing the ‘tick-tock-tick-tock’ song. The rhythm rhymed with my heartbeat, Just ten minutes, when still remaining. Tick-tock-tick, tick-tock-tick, Here comes my red-love In the blue car, waiting for me to pick. ‘A cup of coffee’, was just the name of your proposal To answer you, though I had a thousand times of rehearsal. Only the mirror saw, how I prepared myself to meet you, My watch witnessed how fast it raced to win my heart beat though. All friends were giggling, what had happened to me? I felt my blushing cheek to be my worst enemy. My love, I was nearly dead when it stroke six, When Jessica said, ‘Hey! Tasmi! See, who has here come to pick!’ My heart, it was like… Fighting against a still-hill to peep through and see, I’d frowned if it were then not you, but Daddy! Motionless me, stepped out in fear, Then I found you waiting for me dear! Since then, I love you and would love As long as the moon will have her curve. I’ll adore you as the sea holds the sky on her breastplate, I’d tell you ‘love you’ million times before it becomes late. Oh! How royal was that welcoming scene full of red roses, I would ever remember that eve, so romantic, such flawlessness! Dreamy was the scene, when my Love-boy stepped forward to greet me Bowed holding my hands, then kissed and weaved the eternity. You drove, playing Srikanta’s love songs, We sipped together from the same can while passing mobs. The trees were in their blooming time, Each element of nature rhymed with mine. Finally we reached to ‘Tava’, where you proposed me, Oh! Dear Heaven, you know how much numb it turned me. I wished, if I could then really hug you, But, no! The society of ours wouldn’t allow so. So we exchanged our love by sipping coffee and chatting, Couldn’t control though any of us heart beating. My love, still I love you the same way, When you utter- ‘I love you today, More than yesterday, But less than tomorrow’; I promise, none would dare To get a drop from our love-sea Not even for a while, or borrow.
