Poem
You remember the day our hearts met? When each had already been dusted? You remember when our lips touched for the first? After a long period of starvation? You remember when I tasted your tongue? And it tasted so sweet that I wanted to swallow it? You remember when you swallowed my saliva? And requested for a full cup of it? I still remember those funny days, When we could jump and run round around like kids, When we could laugh at the top of our voices, When we could play hide and seek, When people saw us, they thought we were mad, Some even condemned us of our childish acts, But we ignored them and acted blindly. I still remember those cool days, When I could hold you up and kiss you, When I could hide your hand in my armpit, When I could wake up and brush your teeth, When I could swallow your sweet saliva for breakfast, And feel myself to satisfaction with your bright smile. I still remember those sad days too, When everyone had turned away from you, When no one wanted to be close to you, with the fear of infection, When everyone would look at you and spit, I stood by you, gave you comfort, I carried you in the blossom of my heart, And vowed to die with you if it was to be. I still remember those sad days, When my Mama and Papa turned against us, They condemned me for choosing you, They sent us away from home-our beloved home, They made us look like aliens, We looked like beggars and people mocked us, But I remained by your side, Vowed to die if you were to die. Those days both sad and good, They are now gone, gone forever, They are gone with their brightness, They are gone like dry winds, They are far away like the sky. Since you left my love, those days are no more, The funny moment we used to have, The jokes we used to make, They are all gone, I only feel the sad whispers of the wind, They keep echoing in my ears, Those whispers hurt me much more than those sad days my Love. Do you remember when I would you call you Mama? Then you would chuckle and slap me on my left cheek, But I would give you a lollipop, Because your slap gave me a joyful sensation, It made me love you more and more, I miss those slaps my love, I am only nowadays slapped by swaying trees
