Poem
As a babe, I looked with hope and trust into the eyes of those that held me. With joy I anticipated all the wonder and fulfillment that lay ahead for me on the road of life. Too soon the clouds began to cover up the sun, as a strange silence filled the air. With no shelter from the approaching storm, I was forced to continue down the road alone. For the first time fear over shadowed me...who's cloud was so thick I nearly choked. " What happened to all the flowers and butterflies?" I cried out from my very soul. As the heavy rain began to fall...darkness filled the sky. The air turned cold, burning and stinging my exposed skin. When one storm ended...hope would spring up... only to be crushed again with no mercy. My heart grew cold as the baggage I carried gained weight, with every new storm along the way. Shock and torment were the lightning bolts that seemingly forever scared my heart. As I continued to wander down the road...sun breaks would appear, which once again brought hope and dreams of love. Outwardly I smiled...disguising the battered child within. In the dark...nightmares haunted me. I was but a babe again, looking now with apprehension into the eyes of my oppressors. This time when I woke, there was a calm voice coming from a magic book, which lay before me. It said" I have heard your cries for many years, and offered you my son to warm your heart, but impaired by the weight of your baggage...my offers have gone unheard. Even though you are full of doubt...you only need ask and the book will open and my love and peace will cut your heavy baggage from your back... giving you a freedom you've never known. I will hold you in my arms and you may look into my eyes and forever find true hope and trust. P.R.Deremer
